This past Tuesday Google Kenya were gracious enough to invite the skunkworks to their office for a presentation and Q&A. Place was pretty packed, free food perhaps?
Came in late myself thanks to Nai traffic but I got to get the gist of what they are up to particularly concerning google apps, maps and infrastructure.
Bankelele has a very good summary of the goings on.
A small talk was also given by George Arabu on a project called dream cities initiative with emphasis on a proposed beautification of Kipande Road area. Looked pretty cool.
Afterward there was a discussion. One of the major things dicussed was about rating network operators' quality and how to maximize use of available local bandwidth- a recurring theme.
Good to get the ball rolling this year in style!
